November CEO Message

The year is winding down, but there are many developments underway for livestock producers to be aware of – one is that a new goat eNVD form is now available in the eNVD web-based system and mobile app. For mobile app users, please update to the latest version to ensure you can access the new form.

New funding announced for NVD review

Integrity Systems Company was also recently awarded an agricultural traceability grant from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). This grant will fund an independent review of the current role of National Vendor Declarations (NVDs), make recommendations about the future, and engage with supply chain participants and regulators throughout.

eIDs and the NLIS

Sheep and goat producers - it’s time to ensure you’ve ordered the correct tags and understand how to use the NLIS database to record your livestock movements. This month’s newsletter provides links to guide you through this process.

Purchasing eID tags

A reminder that producers looking to buy eID tags can purchase them directly, either from the tag manufacturer or a reseller (in store or online). Victoria is the exception to this, where tags are purchased online from AgVic’s tag portal. It is worth noting that gaining a licence to manufacture NLIS-approved devices is a three-year process which involves a technology assessment, laboratory testing and field trials. The field trials assess the retention and suitability of the animal identification against the NLIS Animal Identification Technology Approval Requirements in an on-farm setting. Conditional NLIS approval is granted at six and 12 months with full approval after three years. This link provides further information about the NLIS Animal Identification Technology Approval Program if you would like to read further.

Protecting our live export market

Northern producers who export live cattle to Indonesia may be interested to read this month’s feature story about Indonesia’s biosecurity program.

Run by ISC’s parent company, Meat & Livestock Australia, in partnership with Ausvet, the program has been working to support the implementation of enhanced biosecurity measures across Indonesia’s feedlot industry. The program is playing a critical role by helping to secure the sustainability of Australia’s largest cattle export market.

Webinar recordings now available

Our successful November webinar series which included PIC Reconciliations, a hobby farmer integrity update, a goat special and an LPA Audits refresher has now concluded. If you were unable to attend, the recordings can be found on ISC’s dedicated YouTube channel.

I look forward to sharing our final Integrity Matters for 2025 in December. In the meantime, please enjoy this month’s edition.

Kind regards
