NVD changes on the way

A suite of changes to the National Vendor Declaration (NVD) are being made in 2020 which will collectively provide an easier, more efficient and cost-effective way for producers and supply chain stakeholders to interact with the integrity system.

The changes include NVD version updates, the release of a new electronic National Vendor Declaration (eNVD) system and the decommissioning of the eDEC system.

Integrity Systems Company (ISC) CEO Dr Jane Weatherley said the changes are in response to extensive stakeholder consultation and recommendations from the industry.

“A review of all current NVD versions by SAFEMEAT in 2019 recommended a number of changes be made, resulting in the development of updated versions of LPA NVDs,” Dr Weatherley said.

“The new, mobile-friendly, user-centric eNVD system has been developed based on feedback ISC has sought since the eNVD’s initial launch in 2017 as an alternative to using paper NVD books.

“The new eNVD was subjected to rigorous testing ahead of its launch to the red meat industry and ISC will continue to update the system to ensure it delivers the best user experience to industry.

“With the new eNVD doing everything the eDEC does, but in a more user-friendly way, the eDEC system is being decommissioned. Running a single digital system will be a saving to industry.

“This suite of NVD changes aligns with the industry goal of ensuring the integrity system of the future is simple to use, valued by industry and trusted by consumers.”

Updated NVD

Updated versions of Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) NVDs for all species will be available from 1 July 2020, to be identified by version number 0720.
Current versions of NVDs for all species will continue to be accepted until 31 December 2020.

From 1 January 2021, only the updated versions of all NVDs (0720) will be accepted for all species.

As part of the MLA Accelerated Adoption Initiative announced in November 2019, there is no cost for NVD books until 30 June 2021.

Producers who use the LPA eNVD system - the digital alternative to complete consignments - will automatically access the updated version from 1 July 2020, providing peace of mind for producers who utilise this option, that they are always accessing the latest version.

New eNVD system

The new LPA eNVD system is an updated, user-centric, mobile-friendly, version of the eNVD platform.

By using the new LPA eNVD system, producers currently using NVD books can save themselves time and they don’t need to wait for new NVD books to arrive.

The LPA eNVD is not just an NVD - it’s a system for completing all consignment paperwork digitally including livestock assurance and health declarations.

It is available for LPA accredited producers, feedlots and value chain stakeholders to use, providing a fast and intuitive platform to complete livestock consignments.

Access the new eNVD system here and log in using your LPA credentials (LPA PIC, User ID and Password) to start creating consignments.

eNVDs created in the old eNVD system will automatically appear in the new system.

eDEC decommissioning

With the new LPA eNVD covering the same information as the eDEC, but in a more user-friendly way, the eDEC system is being decommissioned.

Sale of eDEC tokens will end on 30 April 2020. Any eDEC users who have eDEC tokens on their account can continue using them until 31 December 2020, when the eDEC will be decommissioned.

After 31 December 2020, users who need or want to continue using an electronic version can use the eNVD.

To accommodate all of these NVD changes, the LPA service centre is undergoing updates which LPA users will notice when they log in. The changes will provide access to LPA products in an easy to use and intuitive format.
