Preparing for an LPA audit

If you’ve been selected to participate in a Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) audit, you can follow some simple steps to ensure you're well prepared and able to gain the full benefit of the audit process.

AUS-MEAT will get in touch.

Once you've received notification of the audit, an AUS-MEAT auditor will make contact to schedule an audit date. If you want to get in touch with AUS-MEAT about your audit, you can contact them on (07) 3361 9200.

Read the LPA “Preparing for an Audit” factsheet.

The auditor will assess your on-farm operations, practices and records in line with the LPA requirements. The LPA Preparing for an Audit Fact Sheet will help you gather all the necessary information in advance to ensure the auditor can review records that are complete and up-to-date.

Assess your “audit readiness”.

As an LPA-accredited producer, it’s important your business operates in alignment with the LPA Rules and Standards. The Preparing for an Audit Fact Sheet contains a checklist to help you identify any areas requiring attention before the audit – ensuring you are audit-ready and that the process runs as smoothly as possible.

Further assistance

Sometimes nonconformities are identified during an LPA audit and, if this occurs, a Corrective Action Request (CAR) will be issued. You will then have 30 days to close the CAR by providing LPA with evidence of the action taken in response.

It's important the required action is taken by the due date, as failure to close the CAR or to get in touch with LPA may result in a suspension of accreditation until the CAR is closed.

You can read this How to guide for more information on responding to a CAR.

If you require additional help preparing for an audit or any assistance resolving a CAR arising from an audit, please email operations@integritysystems.com.au.
