Having problems with an NLIS eID tag?
With electronic identification (eID) tags mandatory for all sheep and goats born after 1 January 2025, it’s a good time to remind producers to buy NLIS-approved tags – and make sure they are selecting the right species when ordering - sheep tags for sheep and goat tags for goats.
Producers who need more guidance on what tags to buy should visit ISC’s website for a range of resources on selecting and ordering the correct NLIS-approved tags.
If you need help with applying them correctly to maximise retention, last month’s NLIS Tips and Tricks provides excellent guidance and information on what to do if tags are lost.
What to do if you have a problem with a tag
If you are having retention issues with your NLIS-approved tags, you should contact your eID supplier and they will investigate the issue. The supplier may replace, refund or take other action depending on what the issue is.
If you are unhappy with the supplier’s response, you then have the option to submit a complaint to ISC via this online complaint form on the ISC website. ISC will then investigate the issue.
It’s important to remember that ISC can only investigate issues relating to NLIS-approved tags.
