Conducting a PIC reconciliation
With electronic identification (eID) set to be mandatory for all sheep and goats born post-1 January 2025, it will be important for producers to ensure they are recording livestock movements correctly in the NLIS database.
It is vital that NLIS electronic identification (eID) devices that are on your property are accurately recorded in the NLIS database and that this record is kept up to date.
Conducting regular Property Identification Code (PIC) reconciliations will help ensure all transfers have been completed correctly and, where a discrepancy appears, to then remedy any errors.
Accurate NLIS records are vital to enable authorities to respond rapidly if there is a disease outbreak or chemical contamination.
