What is animal disease and defect data?
Animal diseases and defects are reported by meat inspectors and or veterinarians as a part of the carcase post-mortem inspection.
LDL currently provides feedback on 19 of the conditions collected through the National Sheep Health Monitoring Project. Check out the NSHMP factsheet for information on the conditions inspected and participating processors. Data is also available from the Enhanced Abattoir Surveillance Program, see factsheet for more information.
LDL now includes animal disease and defect reporting for beef carcases. For more information on understanding your beef or sheep disease and defect feedback, please read the LDL Tech Tip, Understanding your data: Animal disease and defect.
