eNVDs and why Integrity Matters - Panel biographies

Scott Young
Livestock Group President
Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF)
Victorian sheep producer

Scott is a third-generation farmer who undertook a traditional farm apprenticeship before taking over the family property. Through field days, participating in field trials, and forming partnerships with other progressive producers in his local district, Scott’s passion for soil health, sheep husbandry and issues affecting farming has continued to grow.

Scott views his farm as a business and is constantly challenging the processes, practices and technologies used in order to find improvements and increase the value of his activities. He is a founding member of Farming Moorabool and was previously Vice-President of VFF’s Livestock Council.

Mark Inglis
Farm Assurance and Supply Chain Manager
Thomas Foods International

Mark has worked in the beef and lamb processing sector for the past 14 years. During this time, he has created and managed red meat farm assurance programs, overseen the MSA component of the businesses, implemented R&D programs, and run educational programs across the beef and lamb supply chains. In recent years, Mark has had a key focus on developing and implementing sustainability frameworks within programs, as well as benchmarking Scope 3 emissions.

Prior to working in the processing sector, Mark spent seven years at Meat & Livestock Australia where he worked with producers, stock agents, saleyards, feedlots and livestock buyers to gain a greater understanding of the pathways into both the cattle and sheep Meat Standards Australia programs.

Andrew McCulloch
Manager
Bendigo Livestock Exchange

Andrew manages the Bendigo Livestock Exchange (BLE), one of the largest sheep selling centres in the country, which continues to be owned and managed by the City of Greater Bendigo. Andrew has managed BLE since 2019, starting shortly after the initial rollout of mandatory eID for sheep and goats in Victoria. He also successfully managed BLE’s site operations for the duration of the state’s COVID restrictions.

After many years working with different software systems across multiple industries, Andrew is particularly interested in user-friendly technology that genuinely improves the supply chain and helps maintains compliance.

Alina Hawkins
CEO
Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Victoria

After 20 years’ industry experience, Alina was appointed CEO of the Livestock and Rural Transporters Association of Victoria (LRTAV) in 2022. Prior to this, she had been involved with the organisation for many years, having operated a Moama-based livestock transport business with her husband.

In 2005 Alina obtained her heavy vehicle licence and learnt to cart cattle. This was followed by countless hours of mentored, on-the-job training that taught her every facet of the industry. Over the years, Alina has enjoyed all aspects of livestock transport, from operations and administration right through to the long-distance driving, and the challenges that come with being a female in a male-dominated industry.

As CEO of LRTAV, she is keen to improve the public perception of rural transport and improve the transport industry’s social licence.
